Despite the fact that we were undergraduates at Cornell
simultaneously for two years (he graduated in 1989), I managed
to avoid meeting Mark until we were both alumni, as he was
running the Ithaca chapter of STARFLEET, the international
Star Trek fan association, which was then known as Delta Shift
of the USS AVENGER,
when I joined the summer after my senior year. Mark is now
Commanding Officer of the USS ACCORD, into which
Delta Shift evolved, a longtime supporter of Cornell sports,
and the voice of reason on many electronic discussion lists.
Jeff is is Mark's brother, and another
Cornell contemporary of mine whom I really got to know as an
alumnus. He used to ba a halftime announcer for the Big Red
Band, and covers Cornell
hockey for the Ithaca Times.
Mikey was my freshman roommate in Low Rise Nine at Cornell.
The post of anti-president of CUSFA was created for him, and
he was the Executive Officer of the USS ACCORD, until he
moved to Minnesota. He is also Mark and Beeeej's brother, in a manner of
speaking.
Greg was a little before my time at Cornell, but I've gotten
to know him at a few hockey games and on line. He runs The Big Red
What?, a support group for Lynah
Faithful in exile. Now that I've left California and he's
moved to Oregon, he's taken over the title of West Coast
Cornell Hockey Nut.
I've known Angus since our days at the YMCA Day Camp
Seewackamano in the late 1970's. I didn't see him for several
years until he showed up at PDS when I was in High School. Angus
graduated from PDS in 1989 and the
State University of New York at Binghamton in 1993. He's now
in linguistics grad school at the University of New Mexico.
Chris graduated from PDS in 1988 and Cornell in 1992. He
was one of the founders of @cafe, a cyber-cafe in Greenwich
Village, but has now moved on to other shady dealings.
Max was the founder and chairbeing of the Shadow Society
(1991-1993), UCSB's science fiction/fantasy/weirdness club; He
graduated from UCSB in 1993 with a Bachelor's in physics, and
now lives in Berkeley. Max runs the Amurgsval site, dedicated
to the Ars
Magica campaign started by Shadow Society members back in
1992.
Matt was a grad student at Utah for the first year of my
postdoc and did several bridge reports in the two seasons of
The Joe
Schlobotnik Extravaganza.
