Shops and Labs

(Various shops) Powell & Market, SF. There are a few electronics bodegas in the neighborhood of Powell near Market (a tourist hotspot), and a few more on Kearny near Market. Caveat emptor!

Chromeworks runs an E6 line. 2-hr turnaround. $4.75 for a roll of 120 (13-Sep-00). Open M-F 8-10 (yes that's 10PM -- so last non-rush same-day drop is 8pm) Sat 10-4. 415-957-9481, 425 Bryant St, SF.
Costco (10th & Howard) offers on-site and Kodak Qualex (800-635-3686) processing at pretty good prices. (Warning: at a different Costco, not the one here, I've seen them casually drape unsleeved negatives over the counter!)

Camera Fairs/Swapmeets/Shows

(This is for buying and selling photo equipment, not art.) There are fliers you can get at one show that will advertise the other ones. Typically, you can find tons of used equipment, some darkroom stuff, and film at these shows.

North Bay Photographer's Supply occasionally holds photo swapmeets; call for information. 707-546-6610, 742 Wilson St, Santa Rosa CA 95401.
Photographer's Lighting (Address above.) First Saturday of the month, 9a-3p (dealers 8:30a). Free. This is a small show, with maybe 20 tables.
Photo Fair runs nice, large shows at San Mateo County Expo Center and Santa Clara Fairgrounds.

SF Camerawork 415-764-1063 115 Natoma St, SF. sfcamera@sfcamerawork.org. T-F12-5 (free adm). "A non-profit artist's organization and gallery in San Francisco dedicated to contemporary fine art photography and related technology". Note: SF Camerawork is moving soon, in December it is moving in with New Langton Arts (1246 Folsom St, between 8th and 9th Streets.)
